Toni explains she came from a broken family and was homeless at 14 years old.
Terrified to go into the foster system, she left Casa Grande and stayed with relatives who had
substance abuse issues and encountered all that goes along with such abuse.
She entered an abusive relationship and gave birth to 2 children at 17 and 19 years old.
She left that relationship 3 months pregnant with a boy and moved to Mesa where she
was in a rollover accident with her 2 babies. Her premature son was ejected from the
car.

She remembers her oldest walking to her crying with a dusty face and blood on her
nose. She knelt and hugged Toni. Toni felt a hand on her shoulder and was handed her
son. As she was just thanking God that she had them both, she was looking at the
person’s boots. Shiney black boots with beige khaki pants. It was years later that she
realized there was no way a person could have been in the field and kept those boots
from being dusty. She knew it was God!

When her son was 6 months old, she was set up on a blind date with her amazing
partner and father of their 5 kids (including her first 2). She returned to Casa Grande
raising her family, registered her kids in the after-school program and became a
volunteer at Seeds of Hope. After 9 years as a volunteer, she was hired as the Hot Lunch
Coordinator for 2 years. Toni then became the MACC Coordinator and helped build the
Senior Program officially becoming a full-time employee.

Today, Toni is Programs Manager, a position created because of her experience and
knowledge of Seeds of Hope. “I am who I am today because of Seeds of Hope. This was
home where I felt consistency and love. I am an example of no matter where you come
from, you can break generational curses and live for God.”
